Profits plant trees.

Send a file with no account. Sponsors pay for Ferndrop, and every euro of profit goes to planting trees.

There is no income yet, so nothing has been planted so far. The first payment will be published.

Sponsors pay. Trees get planted.

Ferndrop shows one clearly labelled sponsor. What the sponsor pays covers the running costs, and every euro of profit after that goes to reforestation.

Where sponsor money goes Money from the sponsor flows to Ferndrop. A small part pays the running costs. All the profit flows to a tree-planting organisation.

An illustration of the flow, not a count of money or trees.

Right now. There is no sponsor income yet. Nothing has been paid, so we make no claims about trees planted. The first payment will be published here.

What counts as profit

Sponsor income minus the costs of running Ferndrop: hosting, taxes, accounting and legal.

How it is paid

Regularly, to a named tree-planting organisation, never to us.

How you can check

For every payment we publish the organisation, the amount and the receipt.

Planting partners

The planting is done by established organisations, not by us. We will name our partner here when the first payment is made.

Two ways to send a file.

No sign-up and no email address. Drop a file in at the top, then pick one.

Direct transfer Your browser sends a file straight to their browser. Ferndrop only makes the introduction. Ferndrop makes the introduction You Them

Straight there

Both of you online? Your browser connects to theirs and the file goes directly. We only make the introduction. The file never touches our servers, and we set no size limit.

Link transfer You upload a file. It waits for 48 hours while they download it. Then it is deleted. You Them 48 hours left

Kept for 48 hours

They’re not online? Upload it and share the link. The file waits, up to 2 GB, then is deleted 48 hours after the upload finishes. Your recipient’s copy is theirs to keep.

Fig. 2. A link transfer.

What happens in 48 hours.

  1. Hour 0

The upload finishes and the link starts to work. Only people who have the link can find the file. It isn’t listed, searchable or indexed.

  2. Hours 1 to 47

They download when it suits them. Every page has a report button, and a person reads every report.

  3. Hour 48

The file is deleted from storage and the link says it has expired. A small record of the name and size stays for a week so the page can explain, then that goes too.

What we keep.

As little as the service allows, for as short a time as it allows.

Sponsor Ferndrop.

Your name, once, beside the file someone is waiting to download. It is labelled “Sponsor”, loads no tracking and no third-party scripts, and is booked directly with us. Ferndrop is new, so we will give you real numbers, not estimates. What sponsors get
